SNAP

SNAP BENEFITS EVERYONE

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — or SNAP — is the nation’s largest anti-hunger program that nourishes individuals, families and communities so we all can thrive.

DID YOU KNOW?

President Trump signed into law a budget bill that eliminates $1.1+ trillion from the nation’s safety net programs, including nearly $186 billion in cuts to food benefits that will impact SNAP recipients. Your coverage has not changed at this time. If you receive SNAP benefits, please check back here regularly for updates. Learn more about changes to SNAP benefits with the passing of the bill.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Food insecurity occurs when a household lacks consistent access to enough food for all members. More than 47 million people in the US experience food insecurity, including 1 in 5 children.

SNAP, formerly known as food stamps, reduces poverty and improves health outcomes by providing food benefits for people with low incomes. The majority of those who receive SNAP benefits are:

  • Children (40%)
  • People with a disability (20%)
  • Older adults (18%)
