Age-restricted communities, also called retirement communities, are for older adults who are in reasonably good health, can live independently and prefer an active community environment. All communities have age requirements. Living arrangements include apartments, cooperatives, single-family houses and condominiums.
Services and Fees
Age-restricted communities provide opportunities for social and recreational activities.
Each age-restricted community has its own set of services, fees, benefits and requirements. Some offer rental units and some require residents to purchase the unit. Generally, they are not subsidized and are moderate-to high-priced.
