Personal Care Assistant (PCA)

Also known as a personal support professional or personal support worker, a Personal Care Assistant provides services and supports so individuals can live independently. Through this personalized service, older adults and persons of any age with disabilities receive help with the Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, eating, transferring and toileting. Personal Care Assistants also assist individuals on errands and social outings with friends, provide companionship for recreational activities and manage the household by opening mail, paying bills and making meals. PCA is a service available through many state programs including Community First Choice and many of the waiver programs.
